Are you looking for a professional development opportunity at UTS?  The learning technology showcases give you the chance to get a quick demonstration of some of the core learning technology tools used for assessment at UTS and to ask questions of our experienced team.

2018 Showcase Descriptions:

1. UTSONLINE FOR MARKING & FEEDBACK
Monday 26 March, 1:15-2:15

Marking & UTSOnline – This showcase covers the UTSOnline assignment tool, which can be used to mark both group and individual assessment tasks. You’ll learn how to provide inline feedback, utilise overall comments and apply rubrics in ways that improve the marking and feedback process.

Getting the most from Grade Centre – The Grade Centre in UTSOnline is a powerful tool. It allows you to record data, calculate grades and monitor student progress. In this showcase, you’ll learn the tricks of the trade for getting the most out of grade centre.

 

2. TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT IN YOUR CLASSROOM
Tuesday 27 March, 1:15-2:15

This session will be run by AVS experts. They will show you how to:

– Locate guides for the equipment in your classrooms

– Set up the technology in the room and keep it moving

– How to get help fast wherever you need it

– Additional resources, training and services to support you.

The session will end with break-out groups led by the AVS Team to respond to your particular questions and interests.

 

 3. TOOLS FOR ONLINE FEEDBACK
Wednesday 28 March, 1:15-2:15

Using Turnitin for Feedback – This showcase will provide an overview of Turnitin Feedback Studio. You’ll see how students submit an assignment and generate an originality report, plus receive marks and feedback. You’ll also learn how to provide students with feedback using inline comments, rubrics and voice comments.

REVIEW & Feedback – REVIEW streamlines the process of providing criteria based assessment feedback. In this showcase, you’ll learn how to provide feedback using criteria based sliders and comments. You’ll also find out how to streamline your marking using the comment library and check your classes’ results via marking reports.

These workshops are designed to give casual academics new to UTS a paid opportunity to participate in a range of practical and popular, interactive sessions. For information and registration details please click here.

TO REGISTER:

Register your interest by selecting a maximum of one learning technology showcase in ‘Bookings’ below.

Confirmations for eligible participants will be sent by email within three working days of receipt of your registration. We will notify you if a place is available and confirm the room numbers for your workshop/s.

Paid attendance is restricted to participants with an eligible current casual teaching contract at UTS*. Payment is for up to one showcase of 1 hour at the current ’Other Academic Activity’ (1) rate of $46.14 per hour. Priority will be given in the first instance to casual academics who are new to UTS (or have not participated in previous UTS Casual Academics Workshops (or Conferences).

Casual academics who have attended in the past can also register their interest and will be advised if a place is available.

All workshops include a refreshment break (however lunch is not provided).

* Please note: Staff who are in full-time or fractional academic employment at UTS in addition to their casual academic contract are not eligible for payment.
