Children and young people from a trauma background remain one of the most vulnerable groups in the country and face many barriers across the course of their life, especially in terms of education.

This session will provide an insight into some of the challenges faced by children and young people from a trauma background in educational settings, and highlight the complexities faced across educational institutions in NSW, SE and SW Queensland in their aims to support young people with trauma experiences. The session will demonstrate practical strategies and practices employed by Youth Plus Institute – education consultants when partnering and supporting young people who have experiences of acute, repetitive, complex and intergenerational trauma, to achieve positive and meaningful educational outcomes.
