Upload media files with Kaltura ‘My Media’ in Canvas with these 6 simple steps.
Navigate to your Canvas site and find ‘My Media‘ in the menu on the left side:
Locate the ‘Add New‘ button in the top right section of the screen and select your preferred media upload from the drop down menu:
To upload your own media, simply click on ‘Media Upload‘ and choose a file to upload or drag and drop the file as instructed:
Whilst your media is being uploaded, you will need to give it a name; by default the Name will be the file name so this may need to be changed. Add a short description about the video, give it some tags if necessary, and select which Faculty or Department the video is categorised by. Once the video upload is completed, just click ‘Save’ at the bottom of the page.
You will also need to decide whether or not you wish your students to see My Media and select either ‘Private’ or ‘Published’ as desired and then hit ‘Save’. You may also continue adding more video files if you wish.
Once the video has finished processing, which usually takes a few minutes (depending on the size of your media file), you should see the file in either the Media Gallery or My Media depending on whether you set it to Private or Published. All videos uploaded to Kaltura will be automatically captioned. The captions are usually ready around half an hour after you upload your video.
