Hot Topic Theme: Feedback and Assessment
Have you ever run out of time to write a rubric for an assessment task? Or maybe you’ve heard the words ‘co-constructed rubric’ and thought ‘that sounds fun’?
Join Alison McEwen, Discipline of Genetic Counselling Lead in the Graduate School of Health, and the TAC team from IML to find out what happens when a time poor educator invites her students to co-construct a rubric for their final assessment task.
Alison will share her experience and the tools she used in Canvas and in class to co-construct a rubric. She’ll also share the outcome for the first cohort of students to complete this activity, and the process that she uses working through with current students.
We will also explore ideas for earlier skill building activities that invite students to participate in feedback by comparing their own reflective writing with an example of excellent reflective writing.
This will be a discussion and sharing space – a co-construction conversation.
Guest Speaker
Alison McEwen
Alison McEwen leads the Discipline of Genetic Counselling in the Graduate School of Health. She has led the design, development and delivery of the Master of Genetic Counselling, a coursework professional degree that is the entry level qualification for people to work as a genetic counsellor in Australasia.
