After a short break, our community of practice for educational video has returned! On Wednesday May 26th, our 7th meet-up took place and, as always, we’ve got the recordings here for anyone who missed out.
OBS + Zoom:
a first-time user’s perspective
First up, we had a fantastic presentation from academic services officer Audi Mulyono from the Graduate School of Health. Audi spoke about his experience with using Open Broadcaster Software to enhance Zoom sessions as a first-time user. This presentation is a particularly visual one to showcase some ideas that others can try in their own sessions.
Using short films for active learning and strategic questioning
Franziska Trede and Rick Flowers spoke on using short films for active learning and strategic questioning. Franziska and Rick spoke about how they’ve used short films partnered with teaching guides to encourage collaboration and questioning in the classroom. This was based on the their paper Preparing students for workplace learning: Short films, narrative pedagogy, and community arts to teach agency.
We had a great time and would like to thank our speakers for their insights, as well as everyone who attended the events. For those interested in attending our next event in August, you can register for the 8th instalment of the UTS Video Meet-Up below.
