With the long-awaited opening of the H5P OER Hub, you can now find Open Education Resources created by people across the globe as well as start sharing your own OER.
Take – source shared items
When you create new content in H5P, you’ll now notice a tab labelled ‘Get Shared Content’. Selecting this option opens up the new OER Hub. From here you can search by keyword, discipline, and language amongst other filters.
Content is still quite sparse since the hub is in early days and H5P are trying to build up a repository of items before it goes fully public. There were around 3935 items total as of December 2023.
For the H5P nerds out there you may enjoy items like ‘H5P Metadata fields explained’. It uses H5P to explain H5P! How ‘meta’ is that? (? Stop it, dad.)

Give – share your own items
If you’re proud of your creations, think about sharing the benefits. You can now also easily share items to the hub. Keep in mind these three steps:
1. Get Creative
First you’ll need to know which Creative Commons license you want to apply. Generally the most open license is CC BY 4.0. This allows others to reuse and modify your item but also requires they attribute the original author. But if you’re not sure, visit UTS Library’s study guide on the different CC licenses or scan through this piece by Patrick Tooth.
2. Add context
Put some optional info like a short description or some screenshots. Take a look inside the H5P Kitchen for inspiration.
3. Check and share
Finally, review the info you’ve entered and select ‘share’ to share your item on the hub. If you have second thoughts after this, you can always go back and remove your item from the hub.
