We have reached the end of an era with the exit of our UTS-developed criteria-based online assessment tool, REVIEW. The company that develops and hosts REVIEW will cease operating in early December 2024. As a result, we will need to migrate, archive and decommission REVIEW prior to this cut-off date. Unfortunately, this will impact final assessment periods and means that we cannot assess in REVIEW during the second half of this year.
This has been an unexpected development, and the Learning Design and Technology Unit have been working closely with the Learning and Teaching Systems (LaTS) team to look for potential alternatives and solutions. These support teams will also be connecting with faculties to identify any gaps created by the decommissioning of REVIEW and work to ensure these are met within the digital learning ecosystem.
We will need to cease the use of REVIEW and transition all UTS courses to alternative tools as soon as possible, with all subjects transitioned out of REVIEW by Spring 2024 session.
Support and alternative solutions
We will be reaching out to offer subject coordinators who have used REVIEW in their subjects before to offer support for finding alternative solutions within Canvas and our digital learning ecosystem for Spring and Minor Sessions. Much of REVIEW’s functionality can be supported through the Canvas Rubrics and SpeedGrader, though there are other REVIEW features we can assist you in finding alternative solutions for. Once the Learning Design and Technology Team have supported urgent cases, support will focus on those who were intending to use REVIEW for Spring 2024.
If you had planned on using REVIEW for Spring, look over your subject outline(s) to ensure there is no reference to REVIEW and updating CIS if necessary.
If you would like a consultation to discuss your subject in more detail, please schedule through https://lxlabservices.uts.edu.au/. We are happy to meet you online or in person to discuss alternative solutions and how we can assist you in the transition.
