Digital work practices: where are the jobs, what are they, and how prepared are graduates? is a national ATN Innovation Project.
The project is focused on preparing graduates for digital work and how to embed this in the curriculum.
It has involved rapid prototyping of a learning model for Creative Arts, Communications, Business & Management, and Engineering, and potentially other disciplines.
Industry participants in different cities often echo the digital work practices and capabilities needed, such as:
“know the result you get out of that software is meaningful in the real world…actually makes sense” (Engineering participant, roundtable 1)
“you will translate business requirements, help the business to understand how to become customer centric, and help IT and the tech guys to design and develop that” (Design participant, roundtable 2)
“what works really well are explainers…understanding what analytics means” (Communications participant, roundtable 3)
“there seems to be a real lack of connectivity between the business requirement and IT solution…you need to have those people in-between that…can make that connection” (Business participant, roundtable 4)
You are warmly invited to join us for an interactive, hands-on workshop with your university. The aim is to build collaboratively on the rapid prototype model developed. We look forward to exploring your practice ideas on how it could be translated usefully and meaningfully for your context. Suggestions for improvement of the model will be welcomed.
