Tooltime presents: Zoom- the future of online video conferencing

Zoom is a web-based conferencing tool offering a host of features that makes it ideal for an interactive learning experience. A highly flexible and reliable tool that can be used in creative ways to enhance learning and teaching. Zoom allows you to:

  • offer one-on-one and small group consultations
  • share and annotate a reading or paper
  • deliver a presentation and allow students to present
  • poll students’ views or knowledge on a subject
  • assign students into breakout groups for a collaborative activity
  • meet with academics inside and outside UTS.

What will you walk away with from this session?

In this Tooltime session, we will cover:

  • How Zoom can be used (e.g. giving your students access to an expert, or facilitating an online group meeting).
  • Features available in Zoom such as setting up and managing online video/audio conferences, screen sharing, guest access, session recording and more.
  • How you can incorporate these Zoom features to promote interactivity and variety to your subject and increase student engagement.

What is Tooltime?

Tooltime is a series of short informal showcases, where staff from all areas are given the opportunity to share a gadget, tool, app, workflow or technique. The technologies showcased can range from anything that could engage learners, streamline teaching or are simply time savers. Sessions do not have to formally address teaching and learning concepts in-depth, but rather recognise the technology’s potential capabilities in this area. Each session in the series will run for 30 minutes and are intended for either academic or professional staff.

Disclaimer:

The Tooltime hosts make no claims on the utility of tools and do not necessarily provide support for the gadgets, widgets or workflows presented.
