Save time with VLOOKUP in Excel
VLOOKUP is widely used in Microsoft Excel to help join data from separate sources – to find things in a table or a range by row. It is a time-saving function that Academics will find useful whenever they need to manage and extract data from spreadsheets, and it is not actually that hard to master once you understand how it works. For example, it can simplify the process of transferring grades to the SLS.
“VLOOKUP is one of the most popular lookup reference functions in Excel. And basically, it just allows you to join data from separate sources using a common lookup value….” Building a Dynamic Heat Map in Excel – Lynda.com*
Sunil Manandhar from the Teaching Technologies, Innovation and Support Unit (TTISU) in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) will demonstrate how VLOOKUP it works. Attendees should bring their own laptop with Microsoft Excel on it.
*UTS Staff can freely access Excel training online through Lynda.com where a variety of topics on Excel are covered including VLOOKUP.
