Hot Topic Theme: Feedback and Assessment
We warmly invite everyone to join us for this interactive webinar as part of the TACT Hot Topic Series on Feedback and Assessment.
We know from our own experience and from the literature, that timely and constructive feedback helps students to learn. Students tell us that feedback needs to be easy to follow, identifies strengths as well as weaknesses, and specifies ways to improve. New opportunities are now available to design regular and individualised feedback within personalised messages from automatic feedback tools, such as New Analytics and OnTask.
For this webinar, we are specifically focusing on the design of warm, wise feedback (see Michelle Pacansky-Brock’s practice to humanise your online classes) and the challenges and opportunities afforded with automatic feedback tools.
Keith Heggart (FASS) and Amara Atif (FEIT) will share case studies of creating constructive and timely feedback with automatic feedback tools in their subjects, and Lisa-Angelique Lim (CIC) introduces examples where ‘nudging practices’ are used to support feedback practice.
We will share some strategies for making your feedback warm, personalised and supportive, discuss the challenges, and encourage you to consider your next steps to automate the practice of feedback.

What are Hot Topics?
Hot Topics are curriculum and teaching themes that have emerged in UTS from student learning experiences, student feedback surveys (SFS), consultations and other strategic projects. They are a series of professional development and engagement opportunities to enhance courses and provide longer-term support through community building and sustained critical dialogues
